When i looked up wind art on youtube this is one of the videos i found. Its not the most interesting video but the sculpture, in my opinion is brilliant.
The most interesting thing tho was the comments underneth, its really not appriciated.
here are some thats stood out...

" Bleedin' left wing drug addicts"- poulsontheprick

(said comment was shortly followed by this,
"@poulsontheprick Living up to your name I see."

"What we really need instead of an artist sticking the pipes together and calling it a tree, is a musician who can arrange the pipes and tune them to some beautiful harmonies"

Paper jumper

I can normally be seen sporting a pair of long dangley earrings and am quite a hyper person so i move a lot. My tutor pointed out to me that as i move around my earrings swing all over the place. From this an idea was developed. If i could make my earrings produce a pattern on a white T-shirt it would be like documenting the movement of my head.

So at home that evening i took a pair of long earrings and attached lengths of wool to the ends. then mixed up some pink acrylic paint with water and left the earrings to soak for a few minutes. As i am a student, spare T-shirts are few and far between so improvised by cutting a hole in the middle of an A3 page and wearing that. I then put on the earrings and went about my business for about a half hour.

This is me looking super classy wearing a page and paint soaked earrings ( I'm staring a new trend)

This is the final result.

I actually really like the pattern left, its very messy yet you can see a certain level of control in the markings. There is only markings at one side of the page as the earrimgs never came over my shoulder. My plan is that the next time i do it i will stay reapeating it with different colors on the same page, layering the design. I have to admit it was actually good fun doing this piece.

But i do have one piece of advice for anyone else that's going to try this, don't let your Friends have your camera afterwards, as there are now pictures of me during said experiment on a certain popular social networking site and yes i did get quite a slagging, but all in good fun :)

Clay N Trees

After developing my idea further i decided to change the materials i was using. Insted of pen and paper i moved to clay and wire. The most obvious problem with this is that clay is much heavier then paper so way more difficult to attach to a tree (especially in gale forse winds, with people walking past you thinking your mad for sticking clay to trees in the first place, and i was indeed asked "Are you trying to stick the tree back togetheror something? it looks fine") The second problem was that the clay might begin to dry in the wind and become impossible to remove from the tree in one piece. These problems were solved by placing cling film along the back of the piece of clay, and using A LOT of tape along the back to help keep it stuck to the tree.

At first i used two pieces of thick wire bent in a "C" Shape

Then used thin wire bent into a claw shape.

I then got the idea to use a sisccors, which worked well but wasnt the smartest idea, as its very hard to cut the tape off the tree, when your siccors is the thing stuck on the branch.

The contraption below is using all the wire from the previous experiments.

These were all left for just under two hours.
When i took the clay from the trees i trimmed off the edges where no marks had been made and this is what they looked like.
